Mini Adventures
Here are some of the smaller adventures we've been up to. They might be just overnight, or even a week, but they've not taken too much planning and feel like an adventurous break form normality.
Sunny Salhouse Broad
Don’t you just love it when there’s a surprise spell of bright sunny weather? You just have to make the most of it, and a long weekend in the Norfolk Broads is definitely a good way to do this. In another one of our mini-adventures, we based ourselves at Salhouse Broad, just off the River Bure, close to Wroxham, in the North of the Broads National Park, and enjoyed a beautiful few days of canoeing and camping just as it was turning into spring.
New Tent Weekend!
The Hathersage Tent Show was an opportunity for us to look and compare a lot of tents from well-known brands in person. If you’re looking for a new tent it might be useful for you too, and you can explore the Peak District to make a weekend of it!
Back on the Water…
Sometimes we feel devoid from nature, in our air conditioned offices, centrally heated houses, and climate controlled cars. It is all too easy to ignore the changing of the seasons and the steady beautiful cycle of nature all around us. This weekend like so many before, we had a list of jobs to do as long as both of our arms, and had resigned ourselves to plod through them. However, the sudden burst of sunshine and good weather was enough to snap us out of this artificial world of temporary distractions and scream to us “GET OUTSIDE!” and we listened.
A Quest to Find New Boots: Whalley Warm & Dry
This is a straight up review of an independent outdoor shop that specializes in walking boots and shoe fitting. A good pair of boots can make or break an outdoor trip, so we made the trip to Whalley Warm and Dry.
To the Largest Outdoor Shop in Europe!
When you hear that the largest outdoor shop in Europe has opened, and it happens to be only a small detour away from somewhere you are already going to, then it seems almost rude to not go and have a look see around the new GO Outdoors, right?
Away Day: A Year In Review
We like many lead lives that can feel quite busy, there is always something to be doing and there never seems to be enough time in the day. We have tried a number of different techniques to try and help us get the most out of our time, and we thought it might be nice to share with you our latest attempt at sorting this out - our 2024 Away Day!
A Breath of Fresh Air
The start of 2024 was quite busy, so by the time we got to March we were both itching to get outside and away from home for a bit, so we headed out to North Wales for a week of camping.
